Another temple of the 51 Shakti Peethas is the Danteshwari temple that is located in Jagdalpur in Chattishgarh. Being a Shakti Peetha, this spot gets its name from the fact that Shakti’s teeth fell at this very spot.
This temple was built by the Chalukyas in the 14th century in a place called Dantewada. The name of this town was derived from the deity of the temple Danteshwari. The best time to visit the temple is during Dusshera. Every year, during this time, several tribes from nearby villages and jungles visit this temple to worship the Goddes.
The idol of the Danteshwari is taken out from the temple and carried around the city which is a grand procession that takes place here. This procession is also one of the most popular tourist attractions. During Navratri, the Jyoti Kalashas is also lit up and that is a sight worth watching. The quaint and simple village of Bastar comes alive during this festival and you will see thousands of devotees visiting.
