Shani is one of the Navagraha which are the nine primary celestial beings in Hindu astrology, or Jyoti. Shani is embodied in the planet Saturn. Shani is the Lord of Saturday; the word Shani also denotes the seventh day or Saturday in most Indian languages.
Eklavya was the son of a poor hunter. He wanted to learn archery to save the deer in the forest that were being hunted by the leopards.Â Â So he went to Dronacharya (a master of advanced military arts) and requested him to teach him archery.
On reaching Nanda's house in Gokul, Vasudeva realised that Nanda's wife Yashoda had given birth to a baby girl. While Nanda and Yashoda were asleep, he placed hisÂ childÂ in the cradle and took Nanda's daughter instead.
